| | | Basemetals - Alu: A suitable case for treatment | |
| Aluminium is an extremely versatile metal, employed in a wide range of industries in a large number of applications. The key properties that make aluminium so popular are its lightness, resistance to corrosion, high electrical and thermal conductivity, and the fact that it is non-magnetic and non-sparking. The metal is also malleable and therefore easily worked by the major manufacturing and shaping processes, i.e rolling, extrusion forging and casting. In almost all its applications it is alloyed with other metals in order to increase its strength and machineability. |
